SPIRITUAL ACCOMPANIMENT
Spiritual exploration and faith development are personal and at the same time communal. Our faith journeys grow within a faith community. Within various faith traditions, a community – pastors, faith formation staff, parishes, faith circles, etc…. – any number of people and groups contribute to individual’s faith maturation (even hermits often live within some kind of community, even if a small and dispersed one). Within that context, some individuals emerge who provide us with spiritual accompaniment: parish catechists, accompanists, faith mentors, spiritual directors, soul friends, trusted friends, and the like.
Spiritual accompaniment is a relationship in which individual(s) help facilitate another’s exploration and continued growth (maturity) in their faith journey. Read more here.
